Q: Do you have to be homeless to attend Cardboard Citizens’ workshops?
A: Our workshops are free and open to everyone who is currently homeless or at risk of becoming so, or has experienced homelessness. However Cardboard Citizens believes in integrating people from all backgrounds, and everyone who wishes to take part is welcome to do so provided they are over 18, and so long as it is approved by the workshop leader, to avoid disrupting the dynamics and support of the participants within the group.

Q: I am homeless / ex-homeless and I would like to join your theatre company, what are the possibilities?
A: The company offers regular opportunities for workshop participants to showcase their work in public performances: if you join one of our core workshops you will be able to take part in one of those. Experienced workshop participants are regularly invited to audition for paid work in our Hostel Tour and professional theatre productions. For more information, please contact Tasneem on tasneem@cardboardcitizens.org.uk or 020 7247 7747.

Q: I am homeless / ex-homeless, where can I train to become an actor or musician?
A: We offer regular workshops by professional tutors in theatre, singing, music and dance, which are a great way of developing or refreshing your skills. You can also meet with one of our specialist advisers who will help you find a place on a training course and answer your practical questions. To make an appointment, please contact Tasneem on tasneem@cardboardcitizens.org.uk or 020 7247 7747.

Q: I am homeless /ex-homeless and I would like to be notified about auditions, workshop timetables and receive information on Cardboard Citizens shows and events. How can I get this information?
A: If you become a Member of Cardboard Citizens, we will take all your contact details and you will be automatically contacted with news on the things you mentioned above. You will also be able to get free or reduced tickets to theatre shows and other events. For more info, please contact Tasneem on tasneem@cardboardcitizens.org.uk or 020 7247 7747.

Q: I work for a hostel, how much would it cost to have Cardboard Citizens come in to perform for our residents?
A: Performances are free for hostels: you will just need to ensure that your space meets the minimum specs needed for the production. The Hostels Tour usually takes place between October and December of each year. Please contact Mike on 020 7247 7747 or mike@cardboardcitizens.org.uk for more information.

Q: I work for a school or a community group and would like to develop a Forum Theatre production with them, do you provide workshop facilitators?
A: We work with groups across London and outside to develop bespoke Forum Theatre projects. If you are interested, please contact Mike on 0207 247 7747 or mike@cardboardcitizens.org.uk.

Q: How can I volunteer for Cardboard Citizens?
A: Go to the volunteering section of the website for information on the projects where we need support, and to download an application form.

Q: I am a student and I would like to write an essay/thesis on Cardboard Citizens, can I interview someone on the work you do?
A: Please email mail@cardboardcitizens.org.uk to explain your project and we will try to put you in touch with someone who can answer your questions. Unfortunately we do not have the time to answer email questionnaires but we will try to help where possible.

Q: I would like to work for Cardboard Citizens, do you have any positions available?
A: Vacancies are posted on this website in the jobs section and advertised in The Guardian.

Q: How can I be informed of upcoming Theatre Of The Oppressed training courses?
A: You can join the Cardboard Citizens mailing list by entering your email address on top of the page, and we will keep you posted on our activities.

“The project opened my eyes to wider possibilities for working with communities. An experience that will allow and encourage the Churchill Museum & Cabinet War Rooms – and I hope other cultural institutions – to explore ideas outside their normal expectations and parameters.”
